Rhea Ripley Reveals When The Judgment Day Died, Kevin Owens Praises Austin Theory

A significant disbandment occurred during the WWE SummerSlam 2024 event, involving the faction known as The Judgment Day. The turn of events saw both Dominik Mysterio and Finn Balor turning on their teammates Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest during world championship battles. Despite this unexpected blow, the group managed to sustain itself with the addition of new members, Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan.

In a conversation with The Toronto Sun, Rhea Ripley admitted that after the incident, her interest in closely following The Judgment Day faction waned. The faction she had known came to an end for her when she and Priest were abruptly ousted. She remarked,

“The Judgment Day I knew ceased to exist when Damian and I had our backs turned on us. It ended. We were pushed out, and they ceased to be. They are not The Judgment Day I knew, and honestly, I am quite flummoxed with their current activities.”

For over half a decade, Kevin Owens has adopted the Stunner as his signature move, paving his own path after its creator, Steve Austin. Interesting to note the reaction of various wrestlers to the Stunner— some, like The Rock and Scott Hall, provided dramatic reactions, while others like Kurt Angle chose a straightforward response.

Owens, during his interaction with Chris Van Vliet on the “Insight” podcast, revealed that he generally doesn’t appreciate overly-dramatic responses. However, he made an exception for Austin Theory, applauding his precise timing. According to Owens,

“Some guys with their excessive selling end up undermining the potency of the Stunner. The outlandish Moonsaults some wrestlers do on it, I consider it ridiculous. Yet, Scott Hall’s unforgettably brilliant sell and now Austin Theory’s hyperbolic reaction strike a chord. The precision in his timing makes it flawless. It’s so dramatic that everyone goes, ‘Did you just see that?’ But, regardless, he makes sure the Stunner retains its impact. I’m more inclined towards a realistic drop, coupled with a subtle, well-timed reaction… Shane [McMahon] actually, I think, always performed a great Stunner.”

Everyone has unique reactions. Personally, I favour those that keep the prominence of the move than those only aimed to show-off their dramatic sells.
