Many of the talents today received inspiration from the legendary work of Rey Mysterio, but the current WWE United States Champion garners similar motivation by so many of the stars surrounding him today.
Both Rey Mysterio and Ricochet were on WWE’s streaming show, “The Bump” this morning and Ricochet who was in studio for the show, sang the praises of Mysterio who joined in on the conversation via satellite. Mysterio, however, took time to credit Ricochet for helping Rey keep his nose to the grindstone.
“I truly believe that the secret behind still being able to do it and perform at the level that I still perform at is to have people like Ricochet around you know. Like Humberto Carrillo that push me, inspire me to keep doing it and to do it at the level. So I’m honored to have inspired you guys at one point in your career to be where you’re at now and now the inspiration comes from you guys towards me to be able to perform at the level that I do.”
Rey was also shown clips of his Survivor Series match against Brock Lesnar in which his son Dominik got involved in on the action. He was then showed a classic clip of Dominik during the angle with Eddie Guerrero in which Dominik was shaking the ladder in hopes to ward Eddie off. It brought back big emotions for Rey and he shared in those memories during that time.
“I forgot how good his facials were back then when we did that angle with Eddie and I recall him playing with his action figures or at that time he had the PSP and he’d be playing and then Bruce Prichard would come, “Hey, Dom. You ready to film? You ready to shoot this?’ ‘Sure.’ He would put his toys aside go shoot and then, ‘Am I done?’ ‘Yeah.’ He’d go back and play. Just like a kid would do.”
Rey then said how different that moment was from then to now.
“I shouldn’t say that he didn’t know what he was living at the time, but now with Brock, he didn’t know he know, he felt it. He felt it, and the facials just didn’t change.”
