Wrestling superstar Rey Mysterio has revealed he had initial apprehensions about joining the prestigious WWE Hall of Fame until Triple H stepped in to persuade him to accept the honor.
In a noteworthy event in 2023, Rey Mysterio was inaugurated into the WWE Hall of Fame; a commendation he received while continuing his career in the ring, making him the third person to do so.
Reflecting on that defining moment during a recent episode of the “Insight” podcast, Mysterio shared how WWE’s Chief Creative Officer swayed his decision. He shared,
“So when that was brought up to me, ‘Rey, we want to induct you into the Hall of Fame’ and it was Hunter that mentioned that to me. We were thinking of doing it in LA, it’s so close here to your hometown. And my first response was, but I’m not ready to retire Like, no, no, you don’t have to retire. We just think that it’s the perfect spot to induct you to the Hall of Fame. I was like, wow, I really felt it was just such a cool moment. That was one of my goals and it was on my bucket list.”
Following this remarkable day, Mysterio went on to reign victorious over Dominik at WrestleMania 39. Being referred to as the master of the 619, Mysterio maintains an active presence in WWE till this day.
