Over at Monday Night Raw, Penta has been making a name for himself for the past few months. Meanwhile, on this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, his Lucha Bros counterpart, Rey Fenix, made his long-awaited World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) debut.
To everyone’s surprise, Fenix’s first adversary hailed from the NXT roster, Nathan Frazer who forms half of the tag team champions, Fraxiom. Interestingly, this was also Frazer’s opening match on SmackDown, with his only previous fight being a lost bout with Bronson Reed on December 15, 2023, in a dark match.
Despite an early hitch in the fight where Frazer found himself tangled in a dive outside the ring, both the high-flyers showcased their skills fabulously, turning the night into Fenix’s grand spectacle.
Fenix marked his maiden victory in the WWE with a pinfall win after a Mexican Muscle Buster. His performance wooed the audience at the Allstate Arena.
Given that Fenix and Penta represent different brands on the main roster and with Frazer still playing for Axiom in NXT, this fight could potentially set the stage for an exhilarating tag team face-off in the future between The Lucha Bros and Fraxiom.
Post his victorious match, Fenix engaged in an interview with Byron Saxton, where he expressed his deep association with Chicago. He emphasized that his WWE debut was more than just a first match—it symbolized his rebirth, a rekindling of his passion for wrestling, something he was longing to experience in the WWE.
His fervor caught the attention of Legado del Fantasma backstage. While Santos Escobar pointed out Fenix’s passion to Los Garza, much to the disapproval of Berto and Angel, Berto was more interested in trying to prove that he was superior to Fenix. For this, Escobar plans to approach SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis and request a chance for Berto.
