Rob Gronkowski may be “a wrestler in football player’s clothing” considering how soon we may see Gronk grapple it up in a WWE ring.
With it being announced that the former New England Patriot “is close” to signing a deal with WWE, Dave Meltzer reports in his most recent Wrestling Observer that there are no plans for Gronk to have a match at WrestleMania 36 if the event does indeed take place in April. However, he is expected to be in Tampa for the event even if plans are not concrete for his involvement, let alone an appearance. Meltzer does toss out the speculation that perhaps another appearance in the Andre The Giant Battle Royal could be in store.
As for the future, Gronk will be expected to do a couple matches on his impending deal with Vince McMahon. Meltzer states that it is widely believed that he is set up perfectly for SummerSlam, which is set to take place in the Patriots’ backyard of Boston. Triple H has invited Gronk to the event already and to make further note, Gronk’s best bud in Mojo Rawley has pitched match ideas to his former Maryland Terrapin teammate.
