In a recent revelation, wrestling legend Bill Goldberg confirmed his plans for a retirement match in the upcoming year. Fans are now on the edge of their seats, awaiting WWE’s announcement regarding his much-anticipated farewell match.

The narrative thickened during WWE Bad Blood 2024, as WWE World Heavyweight Champion, GUNTHER, took the opportunity to disparage Goldberg. With Goldberg and his family witnessing the event live from the audience, GUNTHER took jabs at the WWE Hall of Famer, derogatorily referring to him as a “one-trick pony”. Goldberg’s response was instantaneous as he tried to cross the barricade, although security stepped in to stop him from getting into the ring.

The news yesterday of Goldberg’s planned retirement match in 2025 sent shockwaves through the wrestling community, sparking conversations about his potential adversary.

David Meltzer, during the most recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, shed some light on the ongoing Goldberg Vs. GUNTHER situation. Reassuring fans, Meltzer confirmed that the much-awaited match is definitely on the cards, although it may not be scheduled immediately, given Goldberg’s perceived need for substantial preparation time.

Meltzer highlighted that the circumstances leading to the face-off weren’t initially set for WrestleMania 41. Given the current timeline, it’s conceivable WWE hasn’t pinned down a date for the match just yet. Meltzer stated, “I know when they shot the angle, I was told it wasn’t going to be at Mania, but those things, that many months in advance, may not have had it locked down when they will do it.”

All eyes are now on WWE as we wait to see when Goldberg and GUNTHER will face each other inside the ring.
