Recent allusions to Brock Lesnar during Monday Night RAW suggest that the ex-WWE Champion could be slated for a TV comeback.
Earlier this year, WWE cut Lesnar out of their plans, including bouts at the Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, and WrestleMania 40, due to a sex trafficking lawsuit involving Janel Grant, John Laurinaitis, Vince McMahon, and WWE. Lesnar wasn’t explicitly named in the lawsuit, but he was alluded to as a former WWE/UFC Heavyweight Champion.
The Wall Street Journal further clarified Lesnar as the unnamed champion in the lawsuit. Federal agencies are currently probing the issue, and the case has been deferred until December. As it stands, WWE’s lawyers have not given Lesnar the green light, and he won’t make a comeback until they do.
During a recent episode of WWE RAW, Adam Pearce counseled Seth Rollins against battling Bronson Reed, to which Rollins reminded him of his past victories over formidable opponents. Lesnar’s name also came up during Cody Rhodes’ segment with GUNTHER, in which The American Nightmare recalled his triumph over the most dominant champion in WWE history.
Speculation about Lesnar’s possible WWE return became a talking point in a recent Backstage Pass Q&A following the subtle references on RAW.
Bill Apter revealed that there have been rumors of behind-the-scenes discussions about Lesnar’s return.
When asked about these rumors, Apter said, “I can’t tell you definitely yes, but my inside people in WWE have told me they’re talking. That’s the most I know.”
In response to this, WrestleVotes stated,”I’ll give you a short answer: Yes.”
