Report: WWE Agrees To Hard Out Time For SummerSlam, Related To Manny Pacquiao vs. Errol Spence Jr. Fight
WWE SummerSlam will be the biggest party of the summer, and it might come with a curfew.
According to this week’s edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has agreed to end SummerSlam at a specific time so that fans in attendance would also have a chance to attend the Manny Pacquiao vs. Errol Spence Jr. boxing match, which will also take place in Las Vegas.
SummerSlam will feature a Kickoff show at 7 p.m. EST, followed by the main show at 8 p.m. Eastern. The rumored venue for the boxing match is T-Mobile Arena, which is 1.4 miles away from Allegiant Stadium, site of WWE’s pay-per-view. It was speculated that the Pacquiao/Spence fight wouldn’t begin until nearly midnight EST (which is typical for boxing matches), so SummerSlam would end at “not too far past” 11 pm EST.
Last year, WWE started pay-per-view events at 7 pm EST (with a 6 pm pre-show), but the decision was made to move back to 8 pm, seemingly a response to the move to Peacock. In regards to running on Saturday, it was previously noted that Allegiant Stadium had asked WWE to run on that night, and Peacock was very happy with viewership for the first night of WrestleMania, which also took place on a Saturday.
