It has recently been revealed why a much-anticipated solo run for Montez Ford hasn’t materialized on WWE broadcasts.
In the past couple of years, the wrestling grapevine has been rife with speculation about a standalone push for Ford. Even wrestling legend, The Rock, has spotlighted him as a future World Champion contender.
Renowned wrestling commentator, Dave Meltzer, shared his insights in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio, providing clarity regarding this lack of a solo push. Meltzer noted,
“For a long time, there has been a push from people who think Montez Ford should be a singles star, he’s been resisting it because most people figure it’s going to be one of those things where if he becomes a single’s star then Dawkins, who is very improved and very good, will probably fall into the nowhere land. I don’t know if they are going to do it now but that’s been talked about as well.”
Ford’s latest in-ring appearance with Dawkins saw them victorious over the team Pretty Deadly on a fresh episode of WWE SmackDown.
Ford has also been involved in a sparring relationship with The Bloodline, a group he not long ago compared to a classic wrestling faction. Click here for more details.
