Vince McMahon no longer wants WWE talent to be engaged with third parties such as Cameo or Twitch.
As reported by Wrestling Inc and Fightful, McMahon held a call where he told stars that the WWE “owns the real names of talent, not just their character names.” A letter was then sent out saying that the brand must be protected and WWE talent have 30 days to stop.
“Some of you are engaged with outside third parties using your name and likeness in ways that are detrimental to our company,” McMahon wrote in the letter per Wrestling Inc. “It is imperative that these activities be terminated within the next 30 days (by Friday October 2). Continued violations will result in fines, suspension, or termination at WWE’s discretion.”
It’s a very strict request when wrestlers aren’t employees and independent contractors, so expect to see some pushback.
