Report: Vince McMahon Feels He ‘Can’t Do Business’ With CM Punk
CM Punk is the one man Vince McMahon can’t do business with.
According to this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, McMahon considers Punk exactly that—the one guy he can’t come to terms with. Meltzer’s report was in response to the potential interest of Punk working WrestleMania and it was noted that not even Paul Heyman or anyone in a position to do so pushed for Punk’s wrestling return.
It was noted that Punk working for WWE Backstage on FOX was allowed because it was limited in scope and not because they were early in the relationship with the network. Meltzer noted that there’s currently “no interest” for him with anything in WWE right now and speculated that he devalued himself by returning in a non-physical capacity and the ratings didn’t jump from his appearances.
Punk made his return to WWE programming in November when it was announced he would be joining Backstage as an analyst, but works for FOX, not WWE. He has not appeared on WWE wrestling shows since leaving in January 2014 but has recently said he’d be open to a return with the right opponent, although nobody has “dangled the right carrot” yet.
