Report: SummerSlam Set To Take Place At WWE Performance Center

WWE SummerSlam Live Results

The biggest party of the summer is staying in Orlando.

WWE SummerSlam will take place at the WWE Performance Center on Sunday, August 23, according to a report from PWInsider.com. WWE originally planned on a large slate of events in Boston that week, with SmackDown, NXT Takeover: Boston, SummerSlam and RAW taking place between August 21-24 at the TD Garden.

While there was speculation that WWE might still try and host events at the Boston venue, Mayor Marty Walsh all but squashed those plans in May after announcing the city would ban any large gatherings through Labor Day weekend. Walsh later said he might consider reopening some major venues like Fenway Park and TD Garden, but fans would not be permitted and strict health and safety protocols would be put in place.

WWE has been running events at the WWE Performance Center and Full Sail University since early March; the last large scale event they hosted before the pandemic reached its peak was a March 9 episode of WWE RAW at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.
