Good news for fans of NXT, it looks like your Wednesday nights are about to reach a TakeOver level of intensity.

Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated is reporting that beginning on April 1, NXT will be airing the matches that were planned for NXT TakeOver: Tampa during WrestleMania weekend on the regular episodes of the weekly television series.

NXT TakeOver: Tampa was canceled due to the Coronavirus outbreak and was originally set to take place on Saturday, April 4, a night that now belongs to WrestleMania itself because the 36th annual event will be a two-night spectacular.

The report also states that Triple H is expected to make the official announcement regarding the TakeOver matches on this week’s episode of NXT. Triple H is also slated to address Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa, reprimanding them for wreaking havoc in the WWE Performance Center during a recent episode of NXT.

WWE has now confirmed Triple H will officially be on this week’s episode to announce the matchups.

The only match that was ever made official for the card in Tampa was a Six-Woman Ladder Match to determine the next top challenger for the NXT Women’s Championship. Chelsea Green, Mia Yim, and Tegan Nox were the only three women to actually qualify for the bout before all plans were thrown into disarray due to the virus outbreak.

Other matches that appeared to be being built towards the event in Tampa include the next chapter in the Johnny Gargano vs. Tommaso Ciampa rivalry and Adam Cole defending his NXT Championship against Velveteen Dream.

Time will tell what matches actually become official moving forward, but this provides NXT fans with some hope of things moving forward on the brand in spite of all that has been taken away due to the recent pandemic.
