Report: NBC-Universal Interested In SmackDown If FOX Deal Isn’t Renewed
– ADVERTISMENT –

SmackDown could be heading to NBC Universal if WWE and FOX can’t come to terms over a new deal.

WWE and FOX signed a five-year deal in June 2018 and the blue brand would debut on FOX programming in 2019.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that NBCU is prepared to make an offer if FOX doesn’t want to continue with SmackDown. He said:

“There’s been no official negotiations but I have absolutely heard the idea of NBC being interested as far as the idea of getting everything and putting SmackDown on the network. That does make sense.”

Meltzer added that while he can’t say for certain that NBCU will make an offer, it is a lot more likely than it seemed a few years ago.

WWE’s deal with FOX will formally expire in the fall of 2024.
