It seemed like a foregone conclusion that “Hangman” Adam Page and The Dark Order were going to defeat The Super Elite on Wednesday during the AEW Dynamite special, Fight for the Fallen. But Kenny Omega pinned his former partner to deny him a shot at the title.
Most fans believed the company made this booking decision to prolong the storyline between the rivals heading into September’s All Out pay-per-view. But now a new report suggests that plans have changed, and Page is no longer getting his title shot in Chicago.
Regarding the AEW title situation, Dave Meltzer wrote the following in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter:
“Adam Page is not getting the main event for All Out with Kenny Omega,” Meltzer wrote. “At one point it was the plan but plans change. The ten-man tag was designed to shock people when they veered off that match, but one would think they will be going to it later.”
Meltzer then speculated that either Christian Cage or Eddie Kingston could be next in line for Omega at All Out, but neither of these potential matches have been confirmed. What AEW has planned for “Hangman” Page at All Out is currently unknown, but one would think it would be impossible to leave him without a big match on the card.
WrestleZone will provide more details as they become available.
