If the latest rumors are to be believed, it sounds like Brock Lesnar has signed a contract with a company other than WWE, which immediately led to fans speculating that he’s also headed to All Elite Wrestling. Is there anything to these reports? Or is it much ado about nothing?
On the latest episode of The Mat Men Podcast, Andrew Zarian broke down the latest rumors regarding Lesnar’s potentially move to another company. He stated that the former WWE Universal Champion has not signed with AEW; any previous conversations between the two sides were not “serious whatsoever.”
“Somebody posted that from a reliable source, a 20-year source; he’s saying that this person has not been wrong for 20 years,” Zarian began. “So essentially, what happened was, the story is that he signed with another company, and people started thinking it’s AEW. I can tell you right now Brock Lesnar is not signed with AEW. They have spoken maybe once in passing — nothing serious whatsoever. Everybody I asked about this laughed. So, I could only tell you what they said to me.
“I also know that Dave [Meltzer] said that it is not true Brock has not already signed with AEW. Brock is not signed with WWE. I know WWE wants him. I have to say, if I’m WWE, how the hell do you let him go if this is the case? It’s not, I’m not saying it is, it’s beyond stupid, and a lot of people are saying, well no, this is an indicator that WWE is trying to sell. So you try to save as much money as possible when you’re selling, but you also have to sell at your peak earnings — as much money as you could possibly make.”
Zarian emphasized the questionable nature of the rumors about Lesnar. He also offered the possibility that “The Beast Incarnate” has signed a deal with an MMA company, but this hasn’t been confirmed either.
“I don’t believe this story about Brock Lesnar going somewhere,” said Zarian. “Listen, maybe he’s signed, but who knows what he’s signed with? Maybe he’s doing a commentary gig. You know that’s a possibility for MMA.”
No matter what the future holds for Lesnar, WrestleZone will provide more details as they become available.
