Brian Cage is on his way out of IMPACT Wrestling but he’ll soon have a new home with All Elite Wrestling.
According to a report from SoCalUncensored.com, multiple sources have confirmed Cage has signed a multi-year deal with AEW. It was noted that no start date was given but it should be “soon.” Cage became a free agent recently, and reportedly entertained offers from IMPACT, AEW and Ring Of Honor, who was said to have offered the highest dollar amount.
Cage worked tonight’s IMPACT Wrestling Hard To Kill pay-per-view, going to a no-contest with Rob Van Dam after being busted open after a Van Terminator. Cage was helped to the back by referees and Daga came out to face RVD on the show. Cage is a former IMPACT Wrestling World Heavyweight Champion, winning the title in April from Johnny Impact. He held the title until October 25, 2019 when he lost to current champion Sami Callihan.
Brian Cage signed with IMPACT full-time for them starting in January 2018. Prior to that, he had been a featured star with Lucha Underground and Pro Wrestling Guerilla. Cage has not worked for AEW before but was in talks to appear in the Casino Battle Royal at Double Or Nothing in Las Vegas this past May. It was later reported that Cage was held out of the match by IMPACT management, who didn’t want their then-World Champion losing in a pre-show battle royal.
The report noted Cage’s AEW deal should not affect any previously scheduled independent dates, which includes a match with David Starr at the Bar Wrestling / GCW event on January 23.
