Jay White appeared at Slammiversary, and he is now working with IMPACT Wrestling in another crosspromotional storyline. But another major star had reportedly been planned for White’s spot.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reports that Andrade El Idolo was supposed to be the one who confronted IMPACT World Champion Kenny Omega at the end of the show. But the two sides couldn’t finalize the deal because they failed to agree on financial terms. Meltzer notes that IMPACT Wrestling also planned to have Omega and Andrade face off on separate sides of a six-man tag team match, where Omega would team with The Good Brothers and Andrade would have two partners of his own.

Meltze’s report indicates that the angle with White was a fairly last-minute decision, as he states that Omega wasn’t aware of White’s involvement until he arrived in Nashville for the show.

Omega and Andrade are scheduled to face off at Triplemanía XXIX in a match where Omega will put his AAA Mega Championship on the line. Both men are currently signed with All Elite Wrestling, and it’s easy to connect the dots as to why all sides involved would want to put up the Omega vs. Andrade match at Triplemanía XXIX through the planned angle at Slammiversary.
