The rumored return of CM Punk will no doubt help drum up interest in AEW’s rumored Saturday wrestling show, but that show was always going to happen with or without him.

The show, rumored to be called ‘AEW Collision,’ is expected to launch next month and if reports are to be believed, will feature Punk as the show’s top star.

Punk will be kept away from The Elite, who will continue to work on AEW Dynamite, but the two sides will appear on each other’s shows as and when needed.

According to sources who spoke to the “Wrestling Observer Newsletter,” AEW’s deal with Warner Bros. Discovery to add more programming would have happened with or without Punk’s involvement.

With that said, the report adds that WBD “absolutely wanted” Punk for the show given his significant star power.

Next week, Tony Khan will make an announcement that is believed to be confirmation of AEW Collision.
