Report: AAA’s Lucha Invades NY Show Did Less Than 60 Pay-Per-View BuysAAA

AAA’s Lucha Invades NY show was a total flop on traditional pay-per-view.

Despite being sold nationally on cable, the promotion barely promoted it being on pay-per-view. This wound up being a major mistake as the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required) is reporting that it did less than 60 buys in the United States. No, that is not a typo, the number really is 60.

Even some heavily Hispanic markets did zero buys, which shows how poorly it was marketed. Even one of the stars of the event, Cain Velasquez, mistakenly said people could watch the event on Twitch when doing media for the event. There’s no estimate on what the internet pay-per-view numbers were, as it did air on FITE TV, but it certainly didn’t light the world on fire.

If you missed the show (and you probably did) you can watch it on AXS TV on Friday night.
