Vince McMahon has never been afraid to fire people, but some Superstars in the 2000s were given a heads-up by the boss.

On the latest edition of his “Cafe De Rene” podcast, former WWE Superstar Rene Dupree spoke with Joy Giovanni about their time working together in the company.

During the interview, Dupree recalled McMahon hosting a meeting in which he said some talents would be released soon, mere days before over 20 Superstars were cut. He said,

“I don’t know if you remember this meeting. It was in California and it was one of those production meetings that we used to have. And then Vince was like, ‘Some of you are not going to be here next week.’

“Dude, it was like on a Tuesday Smackdown taping. And then that Wednesday, there was like 20 or 30 people, just swoosh!”

Dupree was under contract with WWE from 2002 to 2007 and, for a time, was the youngest champion in the history of the promotion.

Giovanni was with WWE from 2004 to 2005 and returned in 2009 as part of the WrestleMania 25 Divas Battle Royal.
