Fightful Select has a new report today regarding international superstars that previously worked for WWE/NXT but were released from their contract.
The report states that most wrestlers are not allowed to monetize their work outside of WWE until they legally obtain a visa. According to the report, most superstars are given 150 days (about 5 months) to get everything figured out before they must leave the country.
The first 90 days are during their no-compete clause because they are technically still under contract with WWE during this time. Some NXT stars only get 30 days in their no-compete which potentially lowers the 150 to 90 (about 3 months), but Fightful could not confirm if that is the case or not.
The additional 60 days is a ‘grace period’ that the USA gives people to find work or prepare to leave the country. Fightful notes that, “This has been a major point of concern for some wrestlers, even those who will be in demand.”
WWE has released nearly 50 superstars in 2021 so far.
