During the 2024 WWE event, Money In The Bank, a surprise attack from CM Punk disrupted Drew McIntyre’s planned cash-in, enabling Damian Priest to rise victoriously and secure the WWE World Heavyweight Championship from Seth Rollins.

The most recent episode of WWE RAW featured Punk delivering a sharply-worded message to RAW General Manager Adam Pearce, advocating for the lifting of McIntyre’s suspension. However, Rollins entered the ring, adding fuel to the hype surrounding the forthcoming 2024 SummerSlam event.

In his newest report during the Wrestling Observer Radio show, Dave Meltzer informed WWE fans of the possible alteration of the originally scheduled faceoff between Punk and McIntyre at SummerSlam 2024. He suggested WWE might be planning for a thrilling three-way bout featuring Punk, McIntyre, and Rollins.

Meltzer went on to share that in the anticipation of SummerSlam 2024, the buildup of a match centered around Punk and Rollins might dwindle if it’s limited to a singles duel. This is mainly due to the event’s fast-approaching date.

While the general expectation is that Punk will be pitted against McIntyre in The Biggest Party Of Summer, Meltzer pointed out that the WWE might shift their strategy. A three-way match could be the staging ground for a future showdown between the Second City Saint and the Scottish Psychopath.

His exact words were: “So when this segment was over, and I don’t know, I thought they were probably going with a three-way at SummerSlam if he’s cleared (Punk) rather than a singles match. They were always going to do Punk and Seth because that’s been built up for a long time, but you don’t need to go so hard in that direction if it’s going to be a singles match, because SummerSlam is only a couple weeks away. It’s certainly the expectation that Punk is going to be wrestling Drew McIntyre on that show, but I think they may go with the three-way to maybe build to Punk and Drew.”

As of now, how the WWE will manage the competition and dynamics between Punk, McIntyre, and Rollins in the lead up to SummerSlam 2024 remains uncertain.
