The return of CM Punk to wrestling might be happening quicker than anticipated, given his promising recovery from a triceps tear that occurred in January.
Punk sustained the injury during the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble match. Drew McIntyre, has not been shy in claiming he was responsible for the injury to the former AEW and WWE World Champion.
Dave Meltzer, in a recent Wrestling Observer Radio broadcast, shared some updates regarding Punk’s healing process. His words were,
“Punk’s recovery is nearing its end. With his surgery having taken place at the end of January, it’s likely he’ll be ready to fight by the end of July, August, or at the latest, September. It may feel far off, but the wait is almost over. He could potentially compete in SummerSlam. In the event that he’s ready for SummerSlam, a match between Punk and Drew for the title would make great sense. Yet even if he’s still recovering, a match could be scheduled one month later. Punk’s comeback is closer than you might think given the nature of his surgery.”
Punk, despite his physical setbacks, has maintained his rivalry with Drew McIntyre. It’s predicted that a match between the two will take place once they both receive medical clearance.
