CJ Perry recently spoke with Haus of Wrestling’s Nick Hausman to discuss a variety of topics, including why she hasn’t been paired up with her husband Miro since she made her All Elite Wrestling debut back in September. The former Lana said,
“I think that from a story arc position, you have to have a story arc. So, either you start together and then finish not together, or start apart and finish together. With that intention of going in, also, like just learning a lot from Paul Heyman, and I’m so thankful for him and how much he’s mentored me over the years and asking him so many questions, and he always was really clear where he knew where his money pockets were, and it was fighting against Brock Lesnar. Even if it was with CM Punk, Phil, or like, he’s with Roman, I guarantee you at some point, Brock’s gonna come back, you know?”
She continued, “And so, it’s to me, I know, my money pocket has been we both, the wrestling world has been conditioned to see us together or fighting each other. Really think about all throughout the years, and if you look at the numbers, those are our best numbers. And in my opinion, our best numbers are actually when we’re the opposite. So, I think human nature likes that, and especially if we know people are really together and like that extra tea, we all are here for it. Even if some people don’t want to admit it.”

CJ Perry, also known as Lana in the wrestling world, recently opened up about why she hasn’t been paired up with her husband Miro since her debut in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) in September. In an interview with Haus of Wrestling’s Nick Hausman, she discussed the importance of having a story arc and explained her reasoning behind their separate paths in the wrestling industry.
Perry mentioned that from a storytelling perspective, it is crucial to have a clear story arc. She believes that a wrestling couple can either start together and then end up apart, or start apart and eventually come together. Drawing from her experience and the guidance she received from Paul Heyman, Perry emphasized the significance of knowing where the money lies in the wrestling business. Heyman, known for his successful stints with wrestlers like Brock Lesnar and CM Punk, always understood the value of their rivalries and the impact they had on viewership.
Perry further expressed that throughout the years, she and Miro have been conditioned to be seen together or fighting against each other. She believes that their best numbers and most engaging moments have come when they are on opposite sides. This dynamic seems to resonate with human nature, as people are drawn to the drama and intrigue of real-life couples being involved in wrestling storylines. Perry acknowledged that even if some fans may not want to admit it, they enjoy the extra tea and excitement that comes from seeing a couple’s on-screen rivalry.
While Perry’s comments shed light on the creative decisions made by AEW regarding her and Miro’s storylines, it is important to note that wrestling storylines are often subject to change based on various factors, including fan reactions and long-term planning. The wrestling industry is known for its unpredictable nature, and fans can expect twists and turns in the future.
