RAW Underground Reportedly Scrapped
RAW Underground was starting to catch on and make the show feel unique, but now it appears that the format has quietly been retired.
According to a report from Dave Meltzer in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, RAW Underground is “considered done” for the time being. It was noted that the theme was first dropped due to COVID-19 concerns, and this week it would not have fit in the show format with the 2020 WWE Draft. According to the report, there was a fear that bringing the high number of wrestlers and audience members in could start a potential spread to the RAW roster, and WWE wants to keep the NXT talent away from RAW and SmackDown talent as much as they can.
Shane McMahon first introduced the concept on the August 3 episode of RAW; they ran in consecutive weeks through September 21 but haven’t aired since then.
