Raquel Rodriguez Feared Retirement During WWE Hiatus Earlier This Year

During Raquel Rodriguez’s prolonged absence from WWE television earlier in the year, the “Judgment Day’s” renowned wrestler feared her career might come to a premature end.

Suffering from Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, a medical condition causing severe symptoms akin to extreme allergic reactions (like hives, blisters), Rodriguez was sidelined for an extended period.

In a recent episode of “The Takedown” podcast, Rodriguez was questioned about whether retirement was a consideration while she was away. In response, she said,

“Absolutely, 100%. I believe that’s the state many athletes, combatants, or wrestlers find themselves in when they suffer injuries or have to step away. Instantly, you’re devoid of all activities—you’re not in Raw, SmackDown, you’re away from the road, there are no interviews or appearances—it all just ceases.

“The fear does seep in, like, ‘This has been my anchor for years—my entire world, my passion. What will I do next?’ It seemed like I was going through a split with wrestling—but not entirely. And I thought, ‘Experiencing this might be tougher than a real breakup.’ Well, who knows, right?”

Rodriguez managed a remarkable recovery from MCAS and staged her return at WWE Bad Blood 2024, where she played a supporting role for Liv Morgan.

Rodriguez will be competing in tonight’s Women’s WarGames match at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2024, held in Vancouver, Canada.
