In a recent episode of the “Insight With Chris Van Vliet” podcast, Raquel Rodriguez delved into her experience of being paired with Liv Morgan in WWE. She also touched upon her health challenges, and her aspirations for the future. The conversation garnered multiple noteworthy moments, some of which are covered below:
As she discusses her association with Liv Morgan, Rodriguez admits that she didn’t quite understand why they were put together initially. Their pairing happened just as she was moving up to the main team, and the idea of an eight-woman tag team was being tossed around with not many actual teams available. It turned out that she and Morgan had great chemistry together and that’s how it all started, despite both of them belonging to different social circles in the beginning.
She further expressed the importance of having great chemistry outside the ring to maintain an elevated level of performance in the ring. She and Morgan spent a considerable amount of time nurturing their friendship which, in turn, improved their tag team performances. The bond they developed was based on mutual values and beliefs, which made their time tagging together fun and rewarding.
Rodriguez also opened up about her struggles with health issues, which she suspects could be Mast Cell Activation Syndrome. She explained that this causes her body to suffer continuous allergic reactions to many things, even those she wasn’t allergic to before. However, her tests for this syndrome didn’t come back positive, leaving her without a definitive diagnosis. Her struggle with frequent flare-ups continues, as she considers different factors that may trigger these reactions.
She spoke about the tough time she had when her ailment caused her face to swell to the point of being unrecognizable. This was a physical and emotional struggle for her, and she acknowledged the support she received from her family and friends, including Morgan, during this period.
Rodriguez further explained the impact of her health struggles on her career. She pointed out how tough it was to watch Elimination Chamber from last year, where she had to wrestle with a swollen face. Despite the challenges, Rodriguez remains hopeful, believing that her current situation isn’t permanent.
Regarding her experience of working with Ronda Rousey, Rodriguez said that despite the pressure, she considered it an amazing opportunity to be in the ring with her.
