In a recent exclusive discussion with “PWInsider Elite”, Raj Dhesi, more popularly known as former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal, relived an unforgettable road trip adventure. This occurred before he and his 3MB teammate Drew McIntyre saw their WWE contracts terminated in 2014.
Dhesi elaborated on the events that led to their late arrival for a WWE event. They had been journeying through Texas when the gas in their rental car depleted.
Below are some key excerpts from this intriguing interview:
Reflecting on their decision to remain in Texas post-Raw to revel before Tuesday’s SmackDown TV recording, Dhesi says, “We’re at some part of Texas for Raw on a Monday evening, and typically after Raw, you proceed to the next city, set and ready for SmackDown on Tuesday. On this fateful day, Drew and I opted to remain behind and enjoy a bit. We thought, ‘We’ll just embark on our journey the next day.”
Discussing their course of action when they ran out of fuel during their Texas road trip, he adds, “We found ourselves in a fix then. Eventually, we end up dialling a gas station, persuading them to take a fuel can, fill it with gas, deliver it to us, promising to pay them a hundred bucks in return…’ It was sufficient to take us to the gas station to fill up, and we ended up arriving at the TV station a couple of hours late.”
Both Dhesi and McIntyre eventually found their way back to WWE and reached the pinnacle of success by becoming world heavyweight champions.
