Wrestling superstar Ezekiel Jackson, who was the last person to hold the ECW World Championship before WWE disbanded the brand, shared his perspectives in a recent conversation with MuscleManMalcolm. He reflected on his brief but noteworthy title reign, saying,
“You could look at it as 90 seconds or an enduring 12 years or so. I take pride in still holding the championship to date. The decision to disband ECW was influenced by the business need for cycling, exploration, and reinvention. ECW tried its hands at various things, including independent tours but had to discontinue when the audience response wasn’t as expected. The emphasis was always on ensuring the company’s profitability. The arrival of NXT and their innovative initiatives like the Nexus build-up denoted this focus.”
Jackson further elaborated, “On a personal level, I would’ve loved to defend the title for recognition. After the ECW disbandment, I joined SmackDown. However, a couple of weeks later, I lost my father which was followed by the loss of my sister, and a severe injury to my right quad. Nevertheless, I continue to hold an association during the tours, and it feels good to be still connected.”
Jackson plans to make a return to the wrestling ring at the FWE event scheduled next month.
WWE star R-Truth continues to back John Cena, who is rumored to have turned heel at Elimination Chamber 2025, arguing that the recorded image of the incident is artificially created. R-Truth substantiated his claim by sharing the controversial photo on Twitter.
During the same event, Cena confronted Cody Rhodes, which many perceive as marking a shift in his usual persona. Cena and Rhodes are gearing up to vie for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41.
Meanwhile, in a recent reveal at Monopoly Events’ For The Love of Wrestling convention, WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley admitted that his quintessential participation in the 1998 men’s Royal Rumble as his three characters, Mankind, Cactus Jack, and Dude Love, was not his idea. Foley said, “But I believe it was a Vince Russo idea. Russo has been known for his innovative ideas over the years.”
Another exciting update from the wrestling world is former WWE Superstar Dave Bautista’s presence at the 97th Oscars, alongside stars like Joe Alwyn, Alba Rohrwacher, Zoe Saldaña, and Willem Dafoe. They gave away the Oscar for Best Cinematography, awarded to The Brutalist.
Bautista, who played Glossu Rabban in Dune: Part Two, watched the film receiving Oscars for Best Sound and Best Visual Effects. He will next be seen in In the Lost Lands, due for release in 2025.
