Damaris Lewis, a renowned star from Queen of the Ring, engaged in a discussion with Tony Schiavone at the AEW Revolution 2025. Lewis’s interview later led to a controversy due to her comments about professional wrestling.
During filming, Lewis shared a light-hearted comment, “Ya’ll know you’re going to win before anybody else does. Thank you for teaching me that.” Subsequently, this led to a wave of criticism from passionate wrestling fans.
However, on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Lewis explained her earlier comment, providing context,
“With all sincerity, I acknowledge that my words may have been misinterpreted. My intent wasn’t to offend; if it came across as such, I apologize. The running theme during our press tour was that professional wrestlers carry a spirit of determination and certainty of victory, which I’ve always admired. When asked to provide a quick on-the-spot answer, my response may have seemed off. When I reviewed it, I understood why it can be misunderstood. I want to stress that I respect professional wrestling, its toughness, and the risks involved. I am really sorry if fans felt offended and completely understand their passion for the sport.”
During the AEW Revolution 2025 Zero Hour pre-show, a controversy ensued when QT Marshall splashed a drink over Paul Walter Hauser. Hauser later spoke about the incident with TMZ and shared,
“Initially, I thought it was just water. I was slightly angered once I realized it wasn’t. Triggers like this upset me.”
Hauser even mentioned that he sent a DM to Marshall, stating “I would love to give you a piece of my mind physically. Your stunt was not amusing, irrespective of whether you’re a wrestler and I’m an actor, I can hold my own.”
Will Ospreay has asserted that he considers AEW to be the leading wrestling organization in North America for the time being.
Ospreay, who has a mixed career in UK, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and now AEW, signed with AEW in 2023 during the Full Gear pay-per-view event.
He recently joined the “Insight With Chris Van Vliet” podcast and shared his respect for AEW and their performance. He said,
“I am a true believer in what AEW is accomplishing. I am a fan of their genre, of their style, and I think they are leading wrestling in North America at the moment. I aim to be a driving force in the industry, putting on classic shows, and doing what I love.”
Ospreay continued to say, “Michael Cole acknowledged that they are more focused on sports and storytelling. I agree with that. We, on the other hand, are more professional wrestling-driven. He has been a symbol of WWE for three decades. That is why they are successful; they narrate compelling tales. However, we too, are creating impressive content. It’s a great time for all of us producing content in North America. The wrestling scene is vibrant at the moment.”
