QT Marshall has recently discussed his experiences with All Elite Wrestling after rejoining the company in the role of Vice President of Show and Creative Coordination. Having been with the company since its inception in 2019, but leaving in 2023, he had plenty to share about the internal dynamics of the promotion.

QT Marshall revealed on Konnan’s “Keepin It 100” podcast what he believes to be the biggest misunderstanding regarding Tony Khan’s organization. He clarified,

“The perception that the talent fully control the company is mistaken. Indeed, some talents have earned the privilege to have direct discussions with Tony (Khan) due to their contributions. However, certain talents have been divulging their views to Tony despite not having truly earned that right. The issue lies in Khan’s open-door policy which is perhaps overly so. Khan is someone who listens, empathizes, and strives to make decisions that are best for the company.

Marshall further elaborated on the issue by describing how talents may have ambitious plans for their roles, but also noted that there should be an alignment with who the fans see them as. “I’ve been observing myself and believe I have the potential to be a lead performer. However, I currently am this individual close to Cody and I should accept this positioning for now,” he stated.

He also addressed the view that the ‘inmates run the asylum’, acknowledging that while talents do have the ability to bring ideas and suggestions to the table, it is not always the case that Tony agrees or goes along with these ideas. Even high-profile talents like Chris Jericho can face rejection if an idea does not align with the current direction of the show. The ultimate benefactors of this dynamic are those who take the initiative to push forward their ideas.
