During a recent interview with SportsKeeda, QT Marshall discussed the reasons behind his departure from AEW towards the end of 2023.

The AEW wrestler revealed that he had conversations with WWE during that time. However, Marshall has since returned to AEW, working exclusively in a backstage position. He said,

“I mean, when I spoke to them, it was a three, four-minute conversation. And [Triple] H kind of just asked me what I wanted to do, and I told him what I liked to do, and we never even got past that point. I remember the guy that kind of linked me up with them was like ‘Wait, you’re already going back to AEW?’ I said ‘Yeah,’ because I understand what I want to do, and what I want to do, even if I was a full-time in-ring talent at WWE, I couldn’t do all this stuff. Of course, it’s everybody’s dream to main event WrestleMania, but at the end of the day, that takes a lot of work, a lot of passion, a lot of sacrifice, and so on and so forth. For the other stuff that I want to do, and what I have going on with the school and stuff, I just think this is the best fit for me, unless it’s something that comes along, and it’s the greatest opportunity, and I can’t say no. But ideally, I’m not in that position, so it’s not something I think about.”

QT Marshall, a professional wrestler associated with All Elite Wrestling (AEW), recently opened up about his departure from the company towards the end of 2023. In a candid interview with SportsKeeda, Marshall revealed that he had conversations with WWE during that time. However, he has since returned to AEW and now works exclusively in a backstage position.

During his conversation with WWE, Marshall explained that it was a brief three to four-minute discussion with Triple H. The WWE executive asked him about his aspirations and what he wanted to do in the industry. Marshall expressed his desire to pursue various projects and opportunities that may not have been possible if he had joined WWE as a full-time in-ring talent.

Marshall emphasized that while main eventing WrestleMania is a dream for many wrestlers, it requires an immense amount of dedication, sacrifice, and hard work. He acknowledged that pursuing such a goal would limit his ability to focus on other aspects of his career, such as running a wrestling school and engaging in other ventures outside the ring.

The AEW wrestler firmly believes that his current position with AEW is the best fit for him, considering his goals and aspirations. He values the freedom and flexibility that AEW provides, allowing him to explore various avenues within the wrestling industry. Marshall also acknowledged that if an exceptional opportunity were to come along in the future, he would consider it, but as of now, he is content with his role in AEW.

Marshall’s decision to return to AEW and work behind the scenes highlights the importance of aligning one’s career goals and personal aspirations with the opportunities available. While WWE may be a coveted destination for many wrestlers, it is essential to evaluate whether it aligns with their long-term objectives and allows them to pursue their passions outside of the ring.

Marshall’s story serves as a reminder that success in the wrestling industry is not solely defined by main eventing WrestleMania or being signed with a particular promotion. It is about finding the right balance between personal aspirations, professional growth, and overall satisfaction in one’s career.

As the wrestling landscape continues to evolve, more wrestlers may find themselves faced with similar decisions. It is crucial for them to reflect on their goals, evaluate the opportunities available, and make choices that align with their long-term vision. Ultimately, the key to a fulfilling career lies in finding the right fit and pursuing opportunities that allow for personal and professional growth.
