During a recent interview with SportsKeeda, QT Marshall discussed the reasons behind his departure from AEW towards the end of 2023.
The AEW wrestler revealed that he had conversations with WWE during that time. However, Marshall has since returned to AEW, working a backstage position exclusively. He said,
“I mean, when I spoke to them, it was a three, four-minute conversation. And [Triple] H kind of just asked me what I wanted to do, and I told him what I liked to do, and we never even got past that point. I remember the guy that kind of linked me up with them was like ‘Wait, you’re already going back to AEW?’ I said ‘Yeah,’ because I understand what I want to do, and what I want to do, even if I was a full-time in-ring talent at WWE, I couldn’t do all this stuff. Of course, it’s everybody’s dream to main event WrestleMania, but at the end of the day, that takes a lot of work, a lot of passion, a lot of sacrifice, and so on and so forth. For the other stuff that I want to do, and what I have going on with the school and stuff, I just think this is the best fit for me, unless it’s something that comes along, and it’s the greatest opportunity, and I can’t say no. But ideally, I’m not in that position, so it’s not something I think about.”
In a recent interview with SportsKeeda, professional wrestler QT Marshall opened up about his departure from All Elite Wrestling (AEW) towards the end of 2023. Marshall revealed that during that time, he had conversations with WWE, but ultimately decided to return to AEW and work in a backstage position exclusively.
During his conversation with WWE, Marshall explained that the discussion was brief, lasting only three to four minutes. Triple H, the executive vice president of global talent strategy and development for WWE, asked Marshall about his aspirations and what he wanted to do. However, they never went beyond that point in the conversation.
Marshall stated that he understood his own goals and what he wanted to achieve in his career. He recognized that even if he were a full-time in-ring talent at WWE, he wouldn’t be able to pursue all the other endeavors he is passionate about. While main eventing WrestleMania is a dream for many wrestlers, Marshall acknowledged that it requires a significant amount of work, passion, and sacrifice. He believes that his current position with AEW is the best fit for him, considering his other commitments, such as running a wrestling school.
However, Marshall did mention that if an exceptional opportunity were to come along, he wouldn’t hesitate to consider it. He acknowledged that there might be circumstances where he couldn’t say no to a great opportunity. But as of now, he is content with his position in AEW and doesn’t actively think about other possibilities.
Marshall’s decision to return to AEW and work behind the scenes highlights the importance of aligning one’s career goals with their personal aspirations. While the allure of main eventing WrestleMania may be tempting for many wrestlers, it’s crucial to evaluate whether it aligns with their overall vision and allows them to pursue other interests outside of wrestling.
By choosing to work in a backstage role, Marshall can continue his involvement in the wrestling industry while also focusing on his wrestling school and other endeavors. This decision showcases the importance of finding the right fit in one’s career and prioritizing personal fulfillment over external expectations.
Overall, Marshall’s experience serves as a reminder that career decisions should be made with careful consideration of one’s goals, passions, and opportunities. It’s essential to evaluate what aligns best with one’s aspirations and to be open to exceptional opportunities that may come along the way.
