Possibility of Thunder Rosa Undergoing Back Surgery in the Future, According to Her

Although Thunder Rosa was out of action from August 2022 to December 2023 due to a back injury that forced her to relinquish the AEW Women’s Championship, she’s been back on television for the last several weeks.

Now, she’s days away from challenging Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s Championship at AEW Dynasty on April 21.

Speaking on a recent edition of the “KiddChris Show,” Rosa noted that she didn’t get back fusion surgery before her return.

“I didn’t [get surgery],” she said. “I think the possibility of surgery will be probably in the future. There were two things happening at the same time. I had tears on my lower back and I had herniations. Before you can do anything, you have to wait for the tears to not be tears. After, that’s when you can do the exercises. It took me about seven to eight months to exercise properly. There are a lot of things I had to change with training and in my life. I was a runner, I can no longer run. You have to pick and choose what you can do. I want to still be at 100% in the ring, so I had to change everything.”

After a long absence from the ring due to a back injury, Thunder Rosa is making her comeback in the world of professional wrestling. Despite having to relinquish the AEW Women’s Championship, she is now set to challenge Toni Storm for the title at AEW Dynasty on April 21.

During a recent interview on the “KiddChris Show,” Thunder Rosa revealed that she did not undergo back fusion surgery before her return. She explained that she had tears in her lower back and herniations, and before any surgical intervention could be considered, she had to wait for the tears to heal. It took her around seven to eight months to be able to exercise properly again.

The recovery process was not easy for Thunder Rosa, as she had to make significant changes in her training regimen and lifestyle. As a runner, she had to give up running and carefully choose which activities she could still engage in without risking further damage to her back. Her main priority was to ensure that she could perform at 100% in the ring, so she had to make these necessary adjustments.

Back injuries can be particularly challenging for professional athletes, as they rely heavily on their physical abilities to perform at their best. Thunder Rosa’s dedication to her recovery and willingness to adapt her training routine demonstrate her commitment to returning to the ring stronger than ever.

It is not uncommon for wrestlers to face injuries throughout their careers. The physical demands of the sport, combined with the high-risk maneuvers performed in the ring, make injuries a constant concern. However, Thunder Rosa’s story serves as an inspiration to others who may be facing similar setbacks. Her determination and perseverance show that with the right mindset and proper rehabilitation, it is possible to overcome obstacles and continue pursuing one’s passion.

As Thunder Rosa prepares for her upcoming championship match, fans eagerly anticipate her return to the spotlight. Her journey back from injury serves as a reminder of the resilience and strength that wrestlers possess both inside and outside the ring. Whether she emerges victorious or not, Thunder Rosa’s story is a testament to the indomitable spirit of professional athletes and their ability to overcome adversity.
