At the forthcoming WWE Clash at the Castle event, Piper Niven is set to compete against Bayley for the distinguished WWE Women’s Championship title. In a recent sit-down with Denise Salcedo of Instinct Culture, Niven candidly shared her experience regarding how she found herself on the match card.
In an exchange filled with sincerity and humor, she said, “Want to hear the full story? I knew Clash at the Castle was in the near future, but I was hearing nothing, no breadcrumbs about potential matches or anything along those lines. I guess you could say I had an internal drive to be a part of that card. Honestly, I motivated myself for weeks on end. You could validate this with Chelsea [Green]. Chelsea plays my cheering squad on and off the camera. She helps instill confidence in me, especially in moments where I’m lacking.
On the day of decision, she was backstage with me and I recall saying, ‘Alright, today’s the day. I’m going to put forth my request.’ And Chelsea, ever the encouraging friend, said, ‘Go for it, you got this. It’s your right to be on that show.’ Filled with newfound courage, I approached Triple H and I said, ‘I’m here to shoot my shot,’ to which he responded, ‘Let me guess, it’s about Clash.’ I confirmed his guess, and to my relief, he said, ‘We’re working on it.’
I remember thinking, ‘Oh, that went well. Much appreciated.’ [Laughs]. Seriously though, I had prepared a whole speech about why I deserved this match because of X, Y, and Z. But all it took was a simple, ‘Yeah, we’re working on it.’ A productive day, yes,” Niven divulged.
