Zelina Vega and Rhea Ripley embraced the Halloween spirit, engaging in cosplay as characters from the iconic anime series Death Note. Specifically, they portrayed characters Ryuk and Misa Amane. This cosplay shoot was for a feature in a ComicBook.com publication, and the article contained quotations from both Vega and Ripley.
Inspired by the renowned manga and anime series from the minds of Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, these cosplay images depict characters from the infernal narrative of a book with the power to end the life of any individual named within its pages.
Featured below are excerpts from the interview conducted with Vega and Ripley about the cosplay:
Vega on playing Misa: “I’m portraying Misa Amane from Death Note, which happens to be one of my most beloved anime sagas. Those who know me well wouldn’t be stunned to learn that my favoured character is actually Light Yagami with his thrilling yet terrifying brilliance. I aspire to achieve his intellect, although hopefully without sharing his delusions of grandeur.”
Regarding Ripley as Ryuk: “On the topic of the divine… did you know Gods of Death have a penchant for apples? I feel this strange, ethereal presence beside me… I can’t quite identify what it is. Nevertheless, she seems to be the perfect Ryuk to my Misa. The duo of Rhea and Ryuk is a thrilling coupling that I wouldn’t change for the world. Her attention to detail in this cosplay is genuinely impressive.”
A tweet about the duo’s cosplay effort reads, “Zelina Vega and Rhea Ripley have officially won Halloween.”
