On the May 1st edition of AEW Dynamite, renowned wrestler Kenny Omega came back onto television screens for the first time since December 2023. His return was occasioned by an address about his recovery journey from a bout of diverticulitis.
In a dramatic twist after Omega’s address, members of The Elite, including The Young Bucks, Kazuchika Okada, and Jack Perry, launched a sudden assault. This resulted in a temporary hiatus for Omega from AEW Dynamite.
Post this surprise attack, Omega underwent surgery and is now on his journey to regain his fitness. The road back involves diligent training before he can step into the ring again and compete at top-tier levels.
Omega, who once held the title of the AEW World Champion, still feels a lingering weakness in his abdominal area. As a measure of precaution, he refrains from taking any bumps.
If Omega’s diagnosis had been delayed, he could have faced a life-threatening blood infection with a mortality risk of fifty percent. There is yet no clear indication on when The Cleaner will be ready to return to the ring.
Omega has been training alongside his co-star from Golden Lovers, Kota Ibushi. Ibushi took to Instagram to share a snapshot with Omega. He captioned it (translated),
“I got to train hard with Kenny again today: Oh, the Nakazawa’s of the world, eh.”
