The Wingmen (“Pretty” Peter Avalon, Cezar Bononi, Ryan Nemeth, JD Drake and Cezar Bononi) has quickly become one of the most noteworthy stables in All Elite Wrestling.
The group is regularly featured on AEW programming, and all five men bring distinct personalities and fashion senses to the table.
In the latest episode of the AEW Unrestricted podcast, Avalon discussed the faction and compared it to an Italian sandwich because it’s a delicious combination of meat.
“[It’s like] a nice Italian because it’s a bunch of meats put together, and it’s delicious,” said Avalon.
Avalon also shined some light on the group’s origin story. He explained how the combination of its members was actually Christian Cage’s idea, and the pairing wound up working quite well.
“I think it’s just an idea that when people see something next to each other, it just kind of works,” said Avalon. “I think the idea for The Wingmen was Christian’s idea….I think he said to put the four of us together, and Tony [Khan] liked it. I was with Cezar, Cezar already as Pretty Picture and then Nemeth and Drake were together. I had hurt myself…I’m still out with an injury. So that had taken me off TV for a little bit. I’m not sure when the decision was made to put us together. I just kinda got filled in and then when I came back, I’m like, ‘Here I am boys, let’s play.'”
“Pretty Peter” specifically spoke highly of his stablemate, JD Drake by complimenting his fashion sense.
“JD’s killing it,” said Avalon. “He’s a fashionista, he’s a wonderful man and he’s a big hunk.”
During the episode, Avalon also looked back on his run as “The Librarian” and discussed his journey as a professional wrestler.
