Pete Dunne Defeats Ilja Dragunov After Distraction From WALTER

Ilja Dragunov wants to make the impossible possible by beating WALTER, something that Pete Dunne has never done. Dragunov attempted to proved his point on the 8/10 episode of NXT because he took on the Bruiserweight in singles action in the main event. This bout all came to be because Dunne interrupted Ilja to state that Dragunov should be thanking him for his career because it was Pete who established the NXT UK brand. Dragunov notes that Dunne couldn’t get the job done against WALTER before as he plans to at TakeOver 36, but before that he challenged Dunne to a match later in the evening.
Dunne did his best type of joint manipulation but Dragunov found his form as he eluded Dunne’s attacks to get in some offense of his own which included a crisp rolling knee from the top rope. His second ascension wasn’t as successful as Dunne slugged Ilja in mid-air.
The match made it’s way over the course of a commercial break with Dunne keeping control. Dragunov brought his innovative offense further to Dunne and the finish came when Dragunov became distracted by an unexpected WALTER sauntering on stage. Ilja and Pete went back and forth a bit more before Dunne nailed his Bitter Ends finish to secure the 1-2-3. The show closed with Ilja getting one last look at the NXT UK Title before TakeOver 36.
