Justin Bieber has been connected to WWE a few times throughout his career. Many fans often thought the pop star could have hosted WrestleMania back in the day. As it turns out, he once came close to wrestling alongside John Cena himself.

In a recent appearance on Talk Is Jericho, Paul Wight explained that he had worked out a deal for a match where he would have teamed up with Bieber and Cena. The trio would have faced The Wyatt Family at WWE SummerSlam 2014.

“Years ago, I had worked out for one of the SummerSlams in LA, I had worked out with a very good friend who was working with Scooter Braun and Justin Bieber, and it was gonna be John Cena, The Big Show and Justin Bieber vs. the Wyatts at SummerSlam,” said Wight. “And this deal was really, like this was, Bieber was on board, he was excited, he wanted to work out with John and I, like this was a really, really big deal.”

Wight then explained that the deal fell through because a WWE official didn’t understand how Bieber would appeal to wrestling fans. Plus, as Wight explained, WWE management “jacked” Scoot Braun around to the point that he found another deal for Bieber.

“And then one of the people that are making decisions said I just don’t see how Justin Bieber’s gonna relate to our audience,” said Bieber. “And it’s like, does anyone not see the amount of eyes that Justin Bieber would bring to that match?

“I think WWE offered to help promote his album or something, like you’re dealing with Scooter Braun. Scooter Braun is all about cash, and they jacked Scooter around for two weeks, and Scooter’s like, listen, it’s not gonna happen, I got the kid a million dollars to watch a soccer game.”

Ultimately, The Big Show was left off the card for WWE SummerSlam 2014.
