The latest episode of Friday Night Smackdown completed with Roman Reigns making an unsuccessful attempt to contact Paul Heyman, whose number turned out to be inactive. Heyman, The Wise Man, is conspicuously absent to such an extent that even The Original Tribal Chief is unable to ping him.
Today’s conundrum for you is “What direction would you steer this narrative and how would you reintroduce The Wise Man back into the storyline?“
Please drop your suggestions in the comment section below.
My personal take on it…
Roman’s current story arc involves acknowledging and taking responsibility for his past errors. In spite of having people supporting him, he is yet to express his apologies sincerely. Shouting “yeet” and then ordering The Usos around is not an apology. Similarly, Sami Zayn received no sincere apology from him. As of now, they all seems to fight on the same side without having any meaningful resolution.
I’ve earlier expressed that bringing in Seth Rollins into this storyline is not a good move, a view that I still hold onto. Moreover, Paul Heyman should not be the end goal of this apology chapter. Of the two, Rollins could have a more valid reason to confront Heyman.
However, I’m not speculating that WWE will follow my storyline. Honestly, I anticipate WWE may not construct a narrative that is logically coherent. It would not surprise me if Heyman just reappears without any sound explanation.
Regarding the WarGames, there are several potential scenarios. I still believe that it would be wise to have The Rock assist Solo Sikoa’s team to victory, keeping Heyman out of it. He should be kept at bay at least until WarGames concludes. His comeback after The Rock would add an element of suspense, paving the way for a promotional clash in early 2025.
If WWE prefers a straightforward approach, then Heyman should make a comeback only after Reigns apologizes publicly in a more conspicuous manner, possibly after their defeat at WarGames. Then Heyman can make his return declaring that as The Wise Man, he knew Roman needed to understand this through his own journey. Once that was achieved, Heyman now ready to resume his role beside him to fend off the enemies, he pledges to start reaching out to his allies. Thus we might see a power dynamic between The Rock, operating through the TKO Board of Directors, and Heyman Initiating backstage maneuvers, setting up different match-ups and storylines leading up to WrestleMania 41.
If WWE is bent on bringing back Heyman before Survivor Series, they need to speed it up. Any delay would just extend an already stretched narrative.
A potential plot twist could involve CM Punk. If he manages to reconnect Reigns with Heyman while the latter had disconnected from Roman, it might stir up further intrigue, leading to potential discord between Reigns and Heyman. However, this plot could only be feasible if WWE plans a feud between Reigns and Punk in 2025, with Heyman switching sides to team up with a heel-turned Punk. Without a character shift, the narrative may not be sustainable.
The Bloodline Saga provided several plot turns, and while I could be wrong, it’s possible that Heyman’s re-entry might be underwhelmingly basic. Though I don’t have a specific plan to bring back Heyman, the resolution of Roman’s apology chapter can be a significant part of the narrative.
