Paul Heyman, a WWE Hall of Famer, revealed that his return to WWE wouldn’t have been possible without the help of CM Punk. Heyman took a break from the WWE for six years and then made his comeback in 2012. During this period, he was prominently featured with CM Punk, who was the reigning WWE Champion at the time.

In a recent discussion with “Inside The Ropes,” Heyman shed light on his comeback to professional wrestling and credited it to Punk. He said,

“When Punk went on television in 2011 [to cut the pipebomb] I had been faded into oblivion by that time. I had stepped back from this industry, deeply engrossed in the digital footprint of Brock Lesnar, who was engaged with UFC back then. Co-writing Brock’s autobiography was another feather in my cap. But, I was considered a closed chapter, a part of the past that was swiftly being erased and overlooked. But, Punk stepped into the limelight in Las Vegas, coincidentally the hub of UFC, and declared, ‘That’s right, I’m a Paul Heyman guy.’

“Since he was on the crest of popularity at that time, people turned to Google to find out about, ‘this guy Paul Heyman’. Those who recognized me were stunned to hear my name again, and those who had no inkling of who I was became intrigued by me. Therefore, all thanks to him, a year later, I found myself back on television alongside Brock Lesnar.”

Heyman and Punk formed an on-screen alliance that lasted until 2013. They were recently seen together on WWE TV gearing up for Survivor Series: WarGames.

As of now, Punk has a favor pending from Heyman. On January 6th, during the premiere episode of WWE RAW on Netflix, Punk will be up against Seth Rollins.
