Paige may be retired from in-ring competition, but she is still under contract with WWE. When recent news came out that WWE told all talent to stop using third party platforms within the next 30 days, Paige was quick to take action on her account.
She has already changed her Twitch channel name from “OfficialPaigeWWE” to “SarayaOfficial” and noted on her stream that she will be changing up her graphics to comply. This mostly means that all of her graphics that relate to WWE or the Paige character will be taken down. One thing that is important to note is that Paige specifically told her viewers that she refuses to delete her Twitch and will remain as a streamer.
Paige said, “We are not going to get rid of our Twitch, we are here to stay. We are not going anywhere. Twitch is our house. I’m the queen of Twitch, so there is no chance in hell we are getting rid of my stream. We’re here. We’re here to stay. I can keep it. It’s just Saraya, we just have to change it all over to Saraya. Thank you guys for understanding. I know it’s going to be a little bit weird to get used to Saraya, but it is what it is.”
After the news came out that Vince McMahon sent a memo informing the superstars of this change, WWE released a statement regarding the move that you can read about here.
Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer reported the obvious, which was that many superstars internally are not happy about this change. It will be interesting to see how this change affects some major third party channels as Xavier Woods has his popular UpUpDownDown YouTube channel and nearly 50% of the superstars carry an active Cameo account.
