On this week’s Talk Is Jericho podcast, Chris Jericho spoke with “Japanese deathmatch legend” Luther. It was revealed that Luther was pitched to be the leader of the Dark Order by Jericho. That obviously didn’t happen and AEW went with other plans and the angle was largely booked by the Young Bucks. In addition to Luther, Jericho also revealed that former TNA manager James Mitchell was briefly considered but was never a serious option.

“I think the original plan so and was Marty’s Scurll to be the leader of The Dark Order,” Jericho revealed (transcription via Fightful). “Then they wanted Matt Hardy which then morphed of course to Luke Harper. So I think that [Luther was] kind of out of the equation because they had other guys.”

Ultimately, Harper would get the spot but clearly it could’ve been very different.
