Orange Cassidy is… whatever.

Orange Cassidy recently spoke to Lehigh Valley Live about his wrestling persona, which he says he never really thought too much about whether it worked or not, it just felt right.

“I never expected anything. I just did what I felt was the thing to do,” Cassidy said. “If they liked it, they liked it; if they didn’t, they didn’t.”

Cassidy is one of AEW’s more popular acts, but there are still some that haven’t warmed up to his “slacker” character. Speaking about his approach to pro wrestling and some of the negative feedback he receives, Cassidy shared how he deals with that aspect… or doesn’t.

“I don’t read it,” Cassidy said. “Problem solved.”

Orange Cassidy then explained that his priority has always been making a connection with the crowd, whether it makes sense or not.

“Doing what I want to do and wrestling the way I want to wrestle, it was tough. Every single time I would step foot in a wrestling ring, someone would audibly say in the crowd, ‘What is happening?’ That happened a lot,” Cassidy said. “I knew people watching me were feeling something, so I just kept doing that. I haven’t changed since.”

All Elite Wrestling President Tony Khan recently spoke about how he ended up seeing the value in Orange Cassidy; read his comments about seeing there’s “something to him” at this link.
