Orange Cassidy – ‘I Don’t Think That I Am The Face Of AEW, Nor Should I Be’

Orange Cassidy has conveyed that he doesn’t see himself as the central figure of AEW, but acknowledges that he needs to step into action as his comrades are now threatened.

In spite of getting urged on AEW TV to encounter Jon Moxley’s Blackpool Combat Club, Cassidy has refrained until now.

Cassidy was a guest in a recent episode of the “Good Karma Wrestling” podcast where the erstwhile AEW International Champion shared his thoughts on the changed scenario of AEW since Claudio Castagnoli’s brutal assault on Chuck Taylor aired on AEW Dynamite.

The highlights of the podcast are as follow:

About becoming the face of AEW: “I don’t believe that I am the face of AEW and neither should I be. I don’t desire that. All I ever wanted was to do my part and leave. However, given what transpired last night, I feel I have no other option but to step up. Initially in AEW, people thought ‘Oh, he’s going to try. He’ll care this time.’ But now I feel I am compelled to fight. I don’t want to, but if the ones I care for are in danger, then I must fight, I believe I don’t have a choice.”

His comments on the closure of Dynamite: “It felt like I was just a second late. I came onto the ring precisely when Claudio was stamping the chair on his neck. I am not a strategist, clearly, I act on instinct. Throughout the day, I just reacted. Earlier in the night, Chuck told me what I needed to hear, it’s what a good friend would do. Seeing him laid out again wasn’t something I anticpated. He had been previously injured by Trent, and seeing that again was heart wrenching. At that moment, everything happening around wasn’t what I expected. All will be made clear on Dynamite. The Fright Night thing.”

In recent AEW news, Ricochet is scheduled to compete with Lio Rush this Saturday on AEW Collision.

The match is the second one announced for this week’s show, to be broadcasted live on TNT.
