Orange Cassidy defeated Jack Evans in AEW’s first Hair vs. Hair Match on Friday’s episode of AEW Rampage.

Matt Hardy has been targeting Cassidy’s hair for weeks, determined to embarrass by taking his hair. But rather than putting his long locks on the line, he put the burden on Evans by thrusting him into this bout. Unfortunately, this gamble didn’t pay off for “Big Money” Matt, as Cassidy stood tall while he held Evans’ cut hair at the end of the night.

Here’s how the match went down, courtesy of our play-by-play coverage:

Evans tries to capitalize on an early distraction from Matt Hardy by rolling Cassidy up, but “Freshly Squeezed” kicks out. With his distinct offensive style, Cassidy takkes control, but Hardy drags him out of the ring and punches him when the referee isn’t looking. Evans gains the upper hand and hits a 450 Splash off the apron.

With more interference from Hardy, Evans continues to control the match. Cassidy rallies with a flurry of offense, but Evans fires back with a Michinoku Driver. “Freshly Squeezed” dodges a diving Evans and drops him with a DDT. After a diving DDT. Hardy calls for The H.F.O., but the rest of the Best Friends and Dark Order come out to fend them off. Cassidy subsequently pins Evans.

Winner: Orange Cassidy

Dark Order, alongside the Best Friends, stops H.F.O. from entering the ring, and Hardy abandons Evans “for the greater good.” Cassidy cuts Evans’ hair, and the Dark Order and Best Frieds collectively celebrate with -1 to close the show.
