Ex-WWE Superstar Enzo Amore took to social media recently to remember his friend, the late wrestling champ Bray Wyatt, also known by his real name Windham Rotunda. This commemoration takes place a year after Wyatt’s unexpected death at the young age of 36, which elicited tributes from wrestling franchises everywhere.
Amore took a moment on his Instagram to reflect on his bond with Wyatt, reminding fans of a time when they were stopped by a policeman who turned out to be an aficionado of Wyatt. He penned,
“In my earliest days on the WWE circuit, Windham offered me a spot in his car and I accepted on the spot. He was such a character. We drove around the Texas jurisdiction, and as fate would have it, we were stopped by the police. The officer was oblivious to our identities, but fortunately, he recognized Bray Wyatt. His words were: ‘Sir… I’m an ardent fan. Could we pose for a photo?”
“Windham was my mentor right from our FCW days to my inaugural road loop in WWE. His support has been indispensable.
A father, a son, a brother, a spouse, a noble man… and my buddy. I always held out the hope that our paths would cross again.
It’s hard to believe it’s already been a year since you departed, mate…Missing you dearly.
Gratitude for helping us avoid that fine.
See you at a crossroads somewhere”
Despite his discharge from WWE in July of 2021, Wyatt was reinstated the subsequent year. His much awaited comeback was made during the WWE Extreme Rules competition in October 2022.
Wyatt’s last match was a victory against LA Knight in the infamous Pitch Black contest at Royal Rumble 2023. His loss has led to fans petitioning for his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame.
