Nyla Rose and new partner Ariane Andrew will be making their AEW debut as a tag team this week, but it won’t be on AEW Dynamite. Instead, the pair will battle Taynara Conti and Anna Jay on YouTube tonight, just an hour before WWE Raw. Many fans were quick to chastize All Elite Wrestling for continuing to shunt their female performers to the sidelines, but Nyla Rose has a different outlook:

I appreciate all the posts & love that a lot of y’all are showing us… but some of y’all are overlooking & underplaying a small and major detail

OUR OWN SHOW.
OUR OWN TIME SLOT.

According to her, the Tag Team Tournament constitutes a new AEW program in a new timeslot, expanding the scope of the promotion rather than placing talent onto skippable programming. Even if the show is going to be on YouTube rather than TNT, it is airing on Monday night, which is a big step up for any wrestling company. In addition, in the conversation beneath the tweet, Nyla states that she sees this type of programming a step towards all women programming on TNT, perhaps as a special episode of Dynamite.

And this is a step in that direction…

In either case, it will be interesting to see if the tag team tournament continues on AEW’s other programming or if the matches will continue to air Monday nights, creating a three-night block of AEW programming for those tuning into YouTube.
